All our plans and daily activities came to a halt for a very long time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Assuming that life will go back to how it was will not be the right thing to do, as the spread and the effects of this deadly virus will stay for a long time.

Does that mean our life will not be normal again? No, continuing our life and our work while maintaining proper precautions and safety will be the new normal.

Effects on the Youth

The early stages of Covid-19 have affected the youth to a great extent. Their studies halted, firms started terminating employees, and fresh graduates had a hard time finding jobs.

How did the young generation adapt to the situation? The youth leaders took this situation as an opportunity to create jobs that would help others to stay home and safe.

Ideas and Work by the Young Generation:

Since there was a strict lockdown at the very beginning, the young people came up with a bunch of ideas that helped many people in society. Ideas such as selling homemade food, working in delivery services, gathering and providing funds and food to the ones in need, works of this sort helped many young people to earn and provide for their family and these works by the youth leaders helped many people to stay home safely.

To add to it, the most valuable task done by the young generation was going to rural areas to provide all the equipment needed to maintain the safety regulations imposed by the government, and to teach the people of those areas the proper way of maintaining social distance, washing hands, using masks, and supplying the products needed to help them avoid getting infected or spread the infection.

Role of the Youth Towards Society

The youth play a vital role toward the recovery and benefit of society, especially during the “post-pandemic” situation or when things start looking up. This is because these are the times when a handful of people try to misguide others with wrong information. Therefore, this is when the young people should step in and create awareness about wrong information and inform people with the correct information with the help of the most powerful tool for connection i.e. social media.

The youth leaders should also use their skills of using modern technology to teach others a few basic skills that would help them stand on their own feet in this new normal situation.

“This pandemic has taught us the importance of claiming our power, our agency, and our rights – so expect to see us on the frontlines of action and advocacy as we work to build a better world.” – Lucy Fagan

During these trying times, where almost everyone is having a mental breakdown, social media can sometimes make things worse. However, the young generation can change it all by maintaining positivity through the posts or comments they make on social media.

Conclusion

The youths have the potential to do more than written or said. If all the young people come together and execute their plans and ideas, it will help society and its people to adjust to the new normal. Thus, the community will also recover from the post-pandemic effect quickly.
